One of the biggest events in the automotive world kicks off: the Auto Shanghai. The focus is back on the Chinese city two years later, one since the COVID pandemic entered the scene. Gestamp, as in 2019, is once again present to show that the new mobility challenges are already a reality.
The Auto Shanghai is the opportunity for the multinational to show, thanks to the innovations in its components and technologies, that it is at the forefront of the sector. Leadership necessary to, hand in hand with its customers, continue to make the vehicles of today and tomorrow even safer and cleaner, better for the environment.
Gestamp capabilities in EV
In Auto Shanghai 2021 Gestamp is displaying to its clients and the participants its latest developments, with special focus on light weighting Electric Vehicles to reduce its energy consumption in the path to achieve a more sustainable mobility and, also, on the safety of the structural products of the car.
Because of the global circumstances in which the Auto Shanghai is taking place, apart from the onsite exhibition, Gestamp has also prepared a virtual booth to access online in order to reach all its global publics that can’t attend the Shanghai meeting.

And what can Gestamp’s visitors find at the booth? As an example of the technologies displayed, it must be highlighted the Multistep technology, known as the fourth generation of Hot-Stamping in which the company is a global leader, a key technology for light weighting and so for Electric Vehicles (EV).
Thanks to an application of Augmented Reality that is available in the booth, attendees are able to discover BiW, Chassis and mechanisms products. Regarding the BiW innovations, the company has also introduced extreme size hot stamped parts, as double door rings, new designs of crash management systems and innovative concepts of battery boxes (Hybrid Battery Box) based on the combination of aluminum and steel material.
Chassis innovations are based on multimaterial solutions, such as some front and rear subframes, which main innovations are focused on light weighting, cost effectiveness, safety and comfort.
China, a key strategic market for Gestamp
Gestamp has experienced a tremendous growth in China since 2007, when the multinational company started its operations in the Asian country. Nowadays, China is a key market for Gestamp, more concretely the third by revenue. China is today the most dynamic market worldwide in automotive industry and manufactures 30% of vehicles of the world.
For this reason, Gestamp has a strategical commitment with the country and its automotive industry, both local and global. More concretely, Gestamp has 2 RnD centers and 12 production plants in China, one of which will be entirely dedicated to Electric Vehicles.
