Gestamp, a multinational company specialized in the design, development and manufacture of highly engineered metal components for the automotive industry, has been certified by the ISO 45001:2018 standard in all production plants, thereby consolidating certification throughout the group's perimeter, which demonstrates the company's commitment to occupational health and safety, under international standards.
María Alonso, corporate director of H&S and environment, and Miguel Poveda, Gestamp's health and safety manager, received the certificates from Elena García, Commercial Director of Systems and Product Certification at TÜV Rheinland Spain and Portugal, and Susana Vendrell, Local Key Account of Systems Certification at TÜV Rheinland Spain, the certification body that carried out the auditing processes.
The complete implementation of a Gestamp Health & Safety System in all the plants has been key during the audits of the prevention management system for a coherent and homogeneous evaluation in every different facility located in a wide variety of countries and cultures, integrating the diversity of each one.
From its creation in 2006 until now, Gestamp H&S System has been consolidated as an integrated management system at all levels of the organization and covers different fields of action, basing 79 "factors" of compliance linked to various areas such as the state of the facilities, machinery, the degree of implementation of preventive actions, continuous improvement, etc. The system is based on a balanced scorecard with a global indicator GHSI (Gestamp Health & System Indicator) that allows the safety system of all plants to be evaluated in a homogeneous and consistent manner and, thus, to apply the same standard to all the group's plants.
With the ISO 45001:2018 occupational health and safety standard structured and certified, Gestamp lays the foundations for having motivated employees and productive work processes, preventing workplace accidents, reducing absenteeism and increasing efficiency. Thus, highlighting its commitment to the safety and health of its people/employees.
