Science Based Target initiative

The Paris agreement reached during COP 21, signed by 178 countries, implies a global commitment in fighting against climate change.

In this agreement, the global commitment is limiting the temperature increasing to 1,5-2ºC above pre-industrial levels. According to IPCC, this implies the reduction of 80% of greenhouse gases by 2050 regarding 1990.

“Gestamp S.A. commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 30% by 2030 from a 2018 base year. Gestamp S.A. also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and fuel and energy related activities by 22% by 2030 from a 2018 base year”.

Science Based Target Initiative is an organization which have been founded with the aim to compile and validate the targets set by different organizations in order to get aligned with Paris agreements. It establishes that targets must integrate the total operations of the Company considering emissions from scopes 1 and 2 and scope 3 only if they are bigger than 40% of the total emissions of the Company.

In 2020, Gestamp gets the official validation of its emission reduction targets. This evidence, strengthens and supports our commitment against Climate Change:
